In this presentation Dr. John Daly, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for COLA,focuses on the use of the laboratory analysis of BNP and N-Terminal Pro-BNP in the work-up of cardiac failure and its distinction from respiratory related dyspnea.  The differences between these two hormones are examined, and while both are excellent markers, it is important to understand wherein the analyses and metabolism differ.  Finally, there is discussion of use and utility of serial measurements of these hormones in patients with known heart failure and in patient populations with stable angina and acute coronary syndrome.
